Wit vs. Wisdom

We can all get exposed to any number of witty comedians who can make us laugh at things that are really no laughing matter. But know that by definition comedy is an embellishment or distortion of what is actually true. With wit, a good comedian can make the truth seem absurd and a lie seem true. That is what makes it funny. It is either so absurd it is funny or it mimics truth without really being true.

Our kids need to know that wit and wisdom are not one and the same. Evil people can be witty. When comedians mock God and the Bible it may be funny and clever, but it may also be a blasphemous con that has your child doubting their faith all while they laugh themselves out of a relationship with God. Caution your children about this.
