It is natural for parents to want to provide for their children. But is it possible to provide too much comfort?
Some foundational lessons are best taught by working hard and making mistakes. Maybe it’s time we stop pampering our kids and let them learn the value of fulfilling responsibilities first hand.
How Your Son Can Learn Responsibility if You Stop Pampering Him
Do you want your boys to grow up to be responsible men? Then stop pampering them! Allow them to go through the natural consequences of their mistakes, and see that they experience the rigors of honest work—especially with chores around the house.
Nobody ultimately feels good about themselves when everything is done for them or when they’re always being bailed out of their own routine dereliction. I can’t tell you the number of kids I encounter who resent their parents for doing too much to make their lives easier!
If Junior is doing all he can to fulfill life’s responsibilities, then blessings are in order. If he shows no interest in anything but his own comfort, pampering him makes us complicit in his dereliction and demise.
