With over 4 million views, it seems the Still Face Experiment video may actually be relevant to how you interact with your kids without you even realizing it.
In today’s One Minute Video, I briefly explain how Dr. Edward Tronick’s Still Face Experiment is relevant to you.
Still Face Experiment
How often have our kids tried to interact with us—and because we were busy or uninterested, we gave them little to no response? Though we’ve all been guilty of this at times, we need to know that not giving our kids our full attention can negatively impact them relationally—not just with us, but with others also.
A sobering experiment can be found on a video by Dr. Edward Tronick. Watch this video and see an example of how not responding to our kids with appropriate attention—whether it be because we’re on our cell phones or otherwise—negatively affects our kids.
My concern is that smartphones have distracted us, as parents, in a way that could precipitate unwitting harm to our children.
