Entertainment is one of the driving forces of our culture today. Whether it is the new trendy TV show or the latest blockbuster movie, we are surrounded by various forms of entertainment.
While some TV shows are movies are obviously inappropriate for children, parents must also understand that musical entertainment influences children as well. While it may seem catchy and innocent, today’s pop music can have a negative effect on kids.
How Worldly Musical Entertainment Influences Children Towards Worldly Lifestyles
Sometimes I am astonished at how many well-intentioned moms and dads actually think that songs by artists like Eminem, Lady Gaga, and Snoop Dogg are innocuous fun. While some children may grow out of an obsession with popular music, many children, along with others in our culture, are being shaped and influenced by it. You can probably think back to a time when the halftime entertainment at the Super Bowl was family friendly and involved marching bands or some other more conventional form of entertainment.
These days, however, conventional forms of entertainment resemble those of the Babylonians long ago. Since ancient times, God’s will for the way that we live has not changed. When we permit our children to become accustomed to Babylonian lifestyles, we should not be shocked when they start thinking and living like Babylonians. Moms and dads must carefully manage the music that their children listen to in the home. Doing this can help parents manage the desires, attitudes, and actions of their children.
