How can parents teach their kids what kind, loving, and virtuous people of the opposite sex look like? Well, the answer is simple: Parents should live out their lives as kind, loving, and virtuous men and women.
As dads provide an example of godly manhood for their kids, they should encourage daughters with kind and affirming words. While some people may try to manipulate with words, Dads can set the example for what consistent and loving words and behaviors actually look like.
How the Kind Words of Fathers Can Encourage Daughters and Demonstrate Genuine Love
Does your daughter ever hear that she is lovely? I am directing this question to the fathers out there. Dads, there are characteristics of all of our daughters that can be considered lovely. Maybe it is your daughter’s character or disposition. It could be her relationship with God. Perhaps it is her kindness, industrious attitude, or a physical attribute like her hair.
I recommend that you take note of these endearing characteristics and frequently and lovingly share praise and encouragement with your daughter. If fathers neglect this practice, daughters may seek kind words and affirmation from less reputable sources. Some young man out there will have no problem praising your daughter and calling her lovely, but he might do this for all the wrong reasons. When dads consistently share encouraging words, their daughters know what it is like to be respectfully and lovingly affirmed. This can help our daughters disregard the phony wooing words of disreputable young men.
