We live in a time where style takes precedent over substance.
Consequently, helping our kids to develop personal character seems to fall by the wayside.
But, only to the discerning eye. There’s still a market for those willing to put a priority on substance—even at the expense of style. Being popular may be stylish; being allegiant to the truth and what is good and just are what heroes are made of. So, let’s train our children in the area of personal character. Here’s six steps to get you started:
- Being on time.
- Doing one’s best.
- Putting God first in our lives.
- Defending the weak.
- Standing up for what’s right.
- Serving those who can’t serve themselves.
These are all godly traits that, in the long run, bring blessing to others, peace, joy and contentment to us, and glory to God.
