If we are searching for a biblical moral pass, does that mean our heart knows the answer already?
Looking for Biblical Justification to Move in Together Instead of Marriage
After divorce, some Christian parents are now moving in with another mate rather than risking another failed marriage and painful divorce, it used to be called shacking up. One biblical justification we hear from couples is the story of the woman at the well who had 5 husbands before living with a sixth man who wasn’t her husband at all. Though Jesus did not condemn her, he did not commend her for it either.
Though commonly conceived as a moral pass, Jesus never affirmed this woman’s lifestyle, he simply acknowledged it. What the passage does seem to affirm, is the depth of God’s grace when we acknowledge and repent of our sins. There are just too many other scripture verses to betray the idea that shacking up is ever a good idea.
