Goals Vs. Vision

Do you have a vision for your family? I’m not talking about goals. Goals are humanly inspired targets for achievement. There’s nothing wrong with that, but vision is divinely inspired. Vision comes from a standard that transcends human origin.

With vision, our kids understand that it isn’t just our ideas about the ideal. Of course, our family vision becomes clear when we set goals. But goals are not the end-all of vision.

Proverbs 29:18 says, “where there is no vision the people cast off restraint.” The same is true with families. Without a vision for our family, the path of least resistance that our culture has paved for our kids and us is just too easy to be ensnared by.
