TOO OLD TO SPANK – When should our children be considered too old to spank? Well, I’m not a fan of putting an age limit on things where circumstance should dictate; but, too many folks believe the teen years should automatically release a child from even the possibility of corporal punishment. Though a healthy biblical approach to parenting is likely to make this a mute point anyway, I don’t feel it’s healthy, or wise, that a teen should feel that it’s ever out of the realm of possibility.
Remember, Eli in 1st Samuel, chapter 3? Both he, and his posterity were condemned for not doing what it took to restrain his two ADULT sons from evil. You may not call it a spanking; but, there may be a circumstance that requires a parent to physically intervene in order to bring justice to a situation at home. Back in the day, had I ever raised one of my hands to my mother, I can assure you that two of my dad’s hands would have been lowered on me.
