Why There are Spiritual Reasons Teens Need Boundaries [One Minute Features]

Imagine if the forces keeping our solar system in order suddenly stopped. The planets, including Earth, would spin wildly out of control without the natural order that keeps them in orbit around the sun.

Why There are Spiritual Reasons Teens Need Boundaries [One Minute Features]

In a similar way, when humans deviate from the natural laws in place around us, we are left in a sinful tailspin. This is why teens need boundaries. These boundaries are essential to maintaining the natural purpose and security of our kids.

Why Teens Need Boundaries to Feel Truly Secure

Wise parents know that teens need boundaries. But what many parents don’t know is that teens actually want them! You’re probably thinking, “not my teen.”

Well, to make sense of this we first have to understand, like Saint Paul in Romans 7, adults and teens alike are constantly engaging in a spirit/flesh war. No, our flesh doesn’t want boundaries, but our flesh is not the sum-total of who we are. Our spiritual side craves boundaries. Our teens are no different.

And when appropriate boundaries aren’t given and enforced, it’s analogous to driving cross country with no traffic lights or speed limits—all security goes away. When security goes away for a teen, so does his rational thinking when seeking to find it.
