I JUST WANT JR. HAPPY 2 – If one of your goals for your children is that they be happy, parenting expert Trace Embry says you may have your priorities out of order … today on License To Parent.
Sure, it sounds noble to wish for someone else’s happiness, but I’d like to suggest a better alternative: pray for joy. After all, there are a lot of happy drunks, happy drug abusers, happy fornicators and happy criminals. Happy, yes. Joyful, no. See, joy is the byproduct of knowing God and His holiness. Happiness is contingent upon happenings. You can have joy in spite of your circumstances, but happiness is fleeting. Of course there’s nothing wrong with happiness, but pursuing happiness without first pursuing holiness is putting the cart before the horse. So be intentional about pursuing holiness with your kids, that joy might result. Your kids will never be happier.
