As parents go through the process of raising their kids, many look for helpful parenting advice from those around them. While this is a wise practice, parents must be discerning about the advice they accept and the advice they reject.
For wise parents, the best parenting truths will come straight from or filtered through Scripture. Unfortunately, a sinful culture can twist the truth and make godly wisdom seem like foolishness.
How a Sinful Culture can Twist the Truth into the Appearance of Foolishness
Some of those listening to these short one-minute sound-bites might think I’m a maniac as I offer advice about raising today’s kids. But know that the things I share on License to Parent are many of the same things that bring true healing and transformation to troubled teens and families from across America and around the world.
What I share is counter-cultural, but I believe it is divinely inspired because it is straight out of Scripture. Historically, when God’s people heeded their pagan culture over God’s truth, judgement resulted. Hosea 9:7 could be speaking to the America of today when it says, “… the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired man a maniac.” I’m not claiming to be a prophet, but what I teach is from a book known to be inspired by God.
