This week on License to Parent with Trace Embry… Trace Embry and Rich Roszel chat with Phillip Telfer, the Founder and President of Media Talk 101, about teaching our kids moderation in media consumption. Media Talk 101 is a non-profit ministry dedicated to teaching media discernment in the light of following Christ. Phillip also wrote Media Choices: Convictions or Compromise? He produced and co-directed the award-winning documentary Captivated, and founded the annual Christian Worldview Film Festival and Film-makers’ Guild. He is now a pastor at Living Water Fellowship in Bulverde, Texas. This is the first half of a two-part conversation. Part 2 airs next week.
Today’s topics include:
- Details about the book, Media Choices.
- The hazards of constant media access.
- Grading the average parent on teaching the proper use media.
- The importance of “the fear of the Lord.”
- Why media consumption is not often discussed from the pulpit.
- When media issues go from symptomatic to problematic.
