What is anhedonia(an-he-donna)? Anhedonia is the destruction of the pleasure centers of the brain. This occurs by overstimulation of outside stimuli. This can commonly occur with drug addicts or alcoholics, but doctors and scientists alike are seeing an increasing similarity in the brain patterns of addicts and typical average teenagers. What is contributing to the destruction of teens pleasure centers? How can parents help this epidemic in our pleasure driven culture.
On today’s broadcast we have the rare privilege of interviewing author and scientist Dr. Archibald Hart. We will discuss how Anhedonia is affecting our teenage population and their ability to interact socially. I heard part of the program while on my lunch hour. I found it to be very interesting. I have 6 grandchildren (& another on the way) & teach 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders in Sunday School. My Church, Arial Baptist, in Easley has a large group of teens on Wednesday nights, and I help with them also. Dr. Hart’s information is very much needed in the adult realm today. So many don’t have a clue that their youth & even they have this serious problem. That is certainly why so many are so out of touch today!
Thanks for the comment Eunice. So few really understand this–largely
because it is a 21st century phenomenon. I’m glad you get it. Spread the
word for the sake of the church.
