Knowledge and wisdom, you can only teach them if you have them yourself.
Too often we overlook the very best place for wisdom, the BIBLE. In a world full of false knowledge and wisdom, we must turn to the truth that has stood through the test of time.
Proverbs 19:27 says: “Stop listening to instruction my son and you will stray from the words of knowledge.” Proverbs 19:20 says: “Listen to advice and accept instruction and in the end you will be wise.” I quote these two Proverbs because together they make great memory verses for our kids.
Early on, our kids should understand the virtues of gaining knowledge and wisdom. And that they are acquired over time. Usually by accepting instruction, your instruction!
This is why it is so important for us as parents to be their “go-to” counselors. The question remains: Have we heeded the wisdom of God’s Word that we might be wise counselors to our children?
