With postmodern thought comes the questioning of traditional thought and practice. This can be a negative influence when it is applied to questions of morality; suddenly issues of right and wrong don’t seem as cut and dried anymore.
This is why our kids need accountability in a postmodern culture. Parents must work with their kids and be a guiding light as we navigate the foggy morality of our culture.
Why There is a Major Need for Accountability in a Postmodern Culture
Today’s toxic culture has influenced our teens much more than we realize. So, please don’t think that, just because our teens are Bible quiz champions, they are now immune from some of the most abominable sins.
Due largely to the postmodern influence of our day, today’s kids have an uncanny way of compartmentalizing their faith, which results in compromising their faith. They can raise their hands in worship Sunday morning while thinking nothing of cheating on a test on Monday.
Our teens live in a world with unparalleled temptations. As parents, we need to help limit their temptations by monitoring better and limiting more the negative influences found in so much of today’s popular entertainment.
